1. audience的基本意思是“观众,听众”。当视其为一个群体而强调整体时,谓语动词要用单数; 但如果强调每个人相对的性时,谓语动词就要用复数形式。audience有时引申可指代场所,表示“观众席”; 也可作“与统治者〔要人〕的正式会见”“谒见”解,此时是可数名词; 还可作“爱好者,支持者”“读者,读者大众”解。
2. audience用于贬义时,用it或its代指; 没有贬义时,则往往用they, them或their代指。
